I never would’ve thought being a wedding photographer would lead me to building furniture and working with my hands, but here we are, and I love it!
From building model cars and skateboard ramps as a kid, to assembling and matting custom picture frames in my first job as a high schooler, then moving into video production and starting a photography business with my wife, I’ve always enjoyed making and creating cool and beautiful things.
When my wife and I became homeowners in 2011 my DIY home improvement list grew quickly, as did my interest in woodworking. After a reclaimed wood garden box I built went viral on tons of home decor blogs, I was hooked on making stuff.
I’m so grateful to be able to work with my hands. Something I love about all this is that there’s still so much out there to try. I’ll never master it all but I’m very interested in how things work and using creative solutions to get something done. Whether it’s a custom piece of furniture for someone’s home or a multi-piece project for a small business, each build is different with it’s own unique challenges. I consider myself a “forever learner” and when a piece is complete I love to simply stand back and admire it for a while. It’s a great feeling knowing that I’ve used my skills to make something special for somebody’s space.
